Ways you can find the owner of a lost phone

We've all lost a phone at some point in our lives, whether we misplace it or it falls out of our pocket in the movie theater, we've all been there. Some phones cant be found in time though and sometimes a random person can find it before you do, if you are that random person and your an honest individual, this guide will tell you ways you can try finding the owner of a lost smartphone

Method 1.

This method only works if the owner has locked the device using find my phone, try powering on and charging the phone, if it appears with a screen similar to below, follow the instructions to contact the owner

Method 2.

Sometimes the owner will have emergency information set on their phone such as a name, face, some medical info and if your lucky some emergency contacts.

on the lock screen go to emergency call and tap on a button that should be along the lines of "medical id" or "emergency information" there you can see some info about the owner and even call one of the emergency contacts, if you want your best shot at returning the phone, call someone like mum

if there's no emergency contacts but there's a face and name, you can probably find them on Facebook, just search their name and search until there's a matching name and face, simple!

Method 3.

Every phone needs a sim card right? they wouldn't work otherwise! and with every sim card, deactivated or not there's a phone number tied to that sim card, and some owners will give up looking for their phone and transfer their number to a new phone. So for this one you need a phone of your own.

Take out the sim card from the lost phone and put it in your own device, then look at the sim status or device information to find the phone number, if your lucky the owner would've transferred the number to a new number so if that's the case the owner will be reachable through that number! Call the number displayed and see if anyone picks up, if they do tell them you found their phone...
